6th grade view live performance of - A Christmas Carol

On December 15, 2014 - all LWJH 6th graders attended a live performance of "A Christmas Carol" at the Metropolis Arts Centre in Arlington Heights. All funds were provided by the Lena-Winslow Education Foundation. This was much appreciated, as all present enjoyed the performance!
Alec Bennett Wins Poster Contest!

Alec Bennett’s poster was chosen as the winner for the Lena Lion’s Peace Poster Contest. Alec was presented the award at the Lena Lion’s Club dinner. Ms. Voreis, Alec’s art teacher, accepted a $50 donation to the Le-Win Art Activity Fund. Alec and the seventh grade art students will choose art supplies with the donated money.
Le-Win Sports Socks

The Post prom Committee has a great new way to show school pride by displaying the Le-Win Sport Socks. The link below will direct you to the socks that are available. These are not your ordinary run-of-the-mill socks. They are NIKE-Elite sports socks that many retail stores are offering with the Le-Win Logo on them. Please check them out. 3rd Annual Alumni Basketball Tournament on Saturday, December 20th

Six teams are entered in the boys’ basketball alumni tournament. Please contact Kyle Benson at 291-5399 or bensonk@le-win.net if you would like to be on a team. The Lena-Winslow Boys’ Basketball Program will be hosting its 3rd annual Alumni Tournament on Saturday, December 20th. Game schedules are as listed below:
Le-Win JH visits Lena Historical Society

On Wednesday, December 3, members of the 8th grade band went to play for the Lena Area Historical Society. The ensemble of 10 played 13 various international and traditional Christmas Carols. Students talked about where and when these songs originated to the audience.

School Board Seats up for Election
Lena-Winslow CUSD #202 will have three school board seats to be filled at the April 7, 2015 Consolidated Election. The 3 seats are 4-year terms expiring in April, 2019. Nominating petitions can be circulated starting September 23, 2014. The filing period is December 15 - December 22, 2014.****New this election: Candidates must file their nominating petitions at the county clerk's office.****

Ag. Construction finishes Shed Siding Project.

The Agriculture Construction class along with Mr. Hoff, Mr. Brown, and Mrs. Trone has put the finishing touches on a project for the siding of the exterior shed for the FFA/Ag. Dept.
Great work on a job well done!

High School Yearbooks Are In
High school yearbooks can be picked up in the high school office from 7:30 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday. Extra yearbooks are available to be purchased ($60) if you did not pre-order one, quantities limited.
Le-Win students learn more about the importance of agriculture through the Ag in the Classroom programs.

Cyclists from IAITC traveled throughout our region to spread the message and support the Ag in the Classroom program. Attached is a video which includes the assembly at Lena-Winslow Elementary School.
Bring your own ear buds program:

This year we are encouraging students to bring and use their own earbuds to use in class. Earbuds can easily be kept in the students pocket or folder and used in class when researching topics on the web. They take up less space than over the head phones and are often inexpensive. Earbuds are often included with a new cell phone, but may not always be used...
