Bid Release 2-Additions and Renovations to Lena-Winslow High School And Elementary School
A mandatory pre-bid conference for this project will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 1:30pm at Lena-Winslow High School located at 401 Fremont Street, Lena, Illinois.
Sealed bids will be received until 11:00am, prevailing time, on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 in the Lena-Winslow School District #202 Administrative Office located at 401 Fremont Street, Lena, Illinois.

Post-Prom Meat Drawing Winners Announced!
Congratulations to Mel Bower of Stockton and Linda Johnson of Pearl City who won the 1/4 beef and whole hog, respectively. Thanks to all of you who supported this and all of the fundraising efforts for the post-prom!
Glasses Drive

One of every four children goes through life with an untreated eye prescription.
The Lena-Winslow chapter of Highland Community College Servant Leadership is holding a used eyeglass drive from March 4 – 25. We are collecting used eyeglasses for any age, children or adults. Please donate your old glasses to any Le-Win school, or in the box provided to this establishment. All eyeglasses will be donated to the Lions Recycle for Sight program.
PantherHawks comeback with Hardware from IHSA State Wrestling Tournament

Two PantherHawk wrestlers qualified for the IHSA State Tournament held last weekend.

Kyle Kalkbrenner Soph.(2 time state qualifier) 152lbs. ended the year 40-18 with two tough losses at the state meet.

Rahveon Valentine Fresh. 132lbs. finished 4th with a first round (3-0) win over Walsh from Leroy, 2nd round loss (6-4)to Jurzak from Coal City (eventual state Champion), a third round wrestle-back win(TF 19-1) over Luper of Carterville, a fouth round wrestle-back win(4-3) over Mook from Herscher, a fifth round wrestle-back win (5-3) over Coleman from Peoria Heights which put him in the match for 3rd place. In the third place match Rahveon lost by a injury default to Braunagel form Belleville( Althoff Catholic)when he received a concussion by an incidental head butt.
Rahveon ended the year 48-9.
Congratulations to our two qualifiers, the wrestling team which finished the year 26-3, Mr. Milder and all the coaches for a great year.
Grant Fiedler is the 2015 Spelling Bee Champ!

Grant Fiedler was in competition with back to back champ, Jordan Streckwald, in the final round of the 2015 spelling bee. Grant went on to win the title by spelling the word "noctambulist" correctly. Jordan, Grant and Olivia Matz will represent Le-Win in the regional spelling bee in Pearl City on Tuesday, February 24th.
Alec Bennett Wins Poster Contest!

Alec Bennett’s poster was chosen as the winner for the Lena Lion’s Peace Poster Contest. Alec was presented the award at the Lena Lion’s Club dinner. Ms. Voreis, Alec’s art teacher, accepted a $50 donation to the Le-Win Art Activity Fund. Alec and the seventh grade art students will choose art supplies with the donated money.
Le-Win Sports Socks

The Post prom Committee has a great new way to show school pride by displaying the Le-Win Sport Socks. The link below will direct you to the socks that are available. These are not your ordinary run-of-the-mill socks. They are NIKE-Elite sports socks that many retail stores are offering with the Le-Win Logo on them. Please check them out. Le-Win students learn more about the importance of agriculture through the Ag in the Classroom programs.

Cyclists from IAITC traveled throughout our region to spread the message and support the Ag in the Classroom program. Attached is a video which includes the assembly at Lena-Winslow Elementary School.
Bring your own ear buds program:

This year we are encouraging students to bring and use their own earbuds to use in class. Earbuds can easily be kept in the students pocket or folder and used in class when researching topics on the web. They take up less space than over the head phones and are often inexpensive. Earbuds are often included with a new cell phone, but may not always be used...
