Proposed renovations at Lena-Winslow Schools
On the November 4th ballot, there will be a referendum question that could permit the school to do some upgrades to the facilities. We encourage our community members to get informed and vote! There are two links below that will help voters understand what the proposal includes and the costs associated with it. There will not be an increase in a property owners taxes.
Parent-Teacher Conferences Nov 6 and 7

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held November 6 from 4:30pm to 7:30pm and November 7th from 7:30am to 12:30am.
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS ENDS-DON'T FORGET TO "FALL BACK"

Daylight savings times ends this weekend. Don't forget to set your clocks back an hour Saturday night.
16th Straight Play-off Season for the Panthers

The Lena-Winslow Panthers have made the playoffs again. For the 16th straight season the Panthers have made the post season in football. The Panthers play Stockton @ Stockton on Saturday Nov. 1st beginning at 1:00 pm. The ticket Price set by the IHSA is $5.00. No passes accepted. Gates open at 11:30 am.
Ag. Construction finishes Shed Siding Project.

The Agriculture Construction class along with Mr. Hoff, Mr. Brown, and Mrs. Trone has put the finishing touches on a project for the siding of the exterior shed for the FFA/Ag. Dept.
Great work on a job well done!
3rd Annual Veterans' day Fireworks donations accepted

The high school will be collecting for the 3rd Annual Veterans' Day Fireworks that will take place 11/11/14. Please give to help the high school honor our veterans in a special way.
October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month

Le-Win Junior High Student Leadership would like to raise awareness for students with down syndrome. In order to show our support the Le-Win Grade School & Jr. High are going to host a Down Syndrome Awareness Day on Wednesday October 29th, 2014.
8th grade JH students visit Adkins Energy LLC and Cave of the Mounds

The Eighth Grade Science students took a cross curricular field trip to Blue Mounds, WI. Friday, October 17th. The student’s first stop was at Adkins Energy Plant, located outside of Lena. For the full story click here.

School Board Seats up for Election
Lena-Winslow CUSD #202 will have three school board seats to be filled at the April 7, 2015 Consolidated Election. The 3 seats are 4-year terms expiring in April, 2019. Nominating petitions can be circulated starting September 23, 2014. The filing period is December 15 - December 22, 2014.****New this election: Candidates must file their nominating petitions at the county clerk's office.****
Junior High Student Leaders see "Sticks and Stones" at Monroe Middle school

To add to the school activities of bully awareness week, student leaders saw Sticks & Stones on 9/30/14. This musical play is a one-woman performance which includes multiple characters, music, and poetry and video projection; all within a story about the critical effects of bullying. The two pivotal characters Scott and Lyn, are brother and sister. Each of them is experiencing different problems with bullies, peer pressure and loss of friends. Scott is betrayed after his mother reports the names of his friends who are caught vandalizing. Lyn is called “a snitch” after a derogatory website is discovered. When Lyn’s best friend befriends the school bully, the situation spirals out of control.

High School Yearbooks Are In
High school yearbooks can be picked up in the high school office from 7:30 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday. Extra yearbooks are available to be purchased ($60) if you did not pre-order one, quantities limited.
Le-Win students learn more about the importance of agriculture through the Ag in the Classroom programs.

Cyclists from IAITC traveled throughout our region to spread the message and support the Ag in the Classroom program. Attached is a video which includes the assembly at Lena-Winslow Elementary School.
Bring your own ear buds program:

This year we are encouraging students to bring and use their own earbuds to use in class. Earbuds can easily be kept in the students pocket or folder and used in class when researching topics on the web. They take up less space than over the head phones and are often inexpensive. Earbuds are often included with a new cell phone, but may not always be used...
